Children's performer Sammie Haynes presents a wide repertoire of songs on this album, singing about the library, maple sugaring, camping, and even an irreverent peek inside "Daddy's Car." Her mostly original songs are repetitive enough for a fun sing-along, and her folk-style is complemented perfectly with accompanying vocals and guitars, drums, and an occasional children's chorus. Positive messages about the world around us abound in almost every song ("when you climb to a mountain, you've got to climb. If the road is rough, just take your time, treasure every step along the way..."), and listeners will feel compelled to move along with many of the songs, including Woody Guthrie's "Dance Around" and Haynes's "Pop, Pop, Pop," a delightful tune about eating fruit. This feel good title will be a welcome addition to general collections, but will also be useful for teaching nature curriculum objectives.
